And this little piggy went to the market...

I am finally starting to feel a little better. And quite honestly, was going stir crazy sitting, or rather, laying in the house for the past 3 days. So, I decided I'd test myself to see if I was well enough to leave the house and hopefully be well enough to go to work tomorrow. My stomach is finally starting to settle anyway and I wanted to make some homemade applesauce. So I decided to head to a local Farmer's Market, one that I've never been to, but recently heard rave reviews about from a friend. And, of course, I had to bring my camera ;)

First of all, this place was beautiful and they had such a wide variety of produce, flowers, pumpkins, gourds and and Fall novelties. It was fantastic!! They also had one of the cutest little pigs I've ever seen. His name was Wilbur, like in Charlotte's Web. And he was just sooo sweet!! Those of you who know me well, know that I took a Veterinary Class when I was younger and the Professor brought in her own menagerie of animals (including pigs) for us to work on. So, I guess you can say that I know my pigs well LOL

Anyway, here are some photos:

Wilbur - He was snorting away the entire time. Snorting = happy. Squeaking or whining= a ticked off pig.

A sea of yellow (how beautiful is that?!)

There's just something about Fall colors...

Lunch time!

So many to choose from...

Diabetes Can Kiss My Arse!

....Though, its definitely kicking my arse at the moment! And so is this flu. Its kind of a double edge sword. The flu is causing my blood sugar to sky rocket and my blood sugar being up is making it harder for my body to fight this off. At times I do consider having type 1 diabetes to be a blessing in disguise. Because my body has been through so much already and because its pretty much essential for any diabetics survival, I can ready my body really well. And a raise in blood sugar for no apparent reason is almost always an indicator of illness or infection. So, I did have some advanced warning and popped some Airborne. Though it didn't work, the Vitamin C in it certainly won't hurt. And I have to pick up a B-12 shot tomorrow (I get them monthly) at the pharmacy, so hopefully that'll help fight this off as well. Can I still be in denial though? Its a much happier place in La-La Land right now. I do not have the flue... I do not have the flu... I do not have the flu...

Oh, and speaking of diabetes..... they do walks here and nationallyfor the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation). I've done the walks before and they're always fun and very inspiring. Unfortunately, I can't get out of work this year to do it, but I encourage everyone who reads this to please go to www.jdrf.org and look for a walk in your area and then register to walk. Its for a great cause!

Not Me Monday....early

Come join in on the fun(click the banner above)

I did not spend $21 on a movie ticket today for a show that I have seen at least a dozen times (Rent) either on the stage , the movies or on TV.

I did not watch 5 hours of the Sopranos marathon when I could have been doing things around the house or running errands.

I certainly did not forget to pay my cell phone bill ontime this month...whoops!

I am definitely, without a doubt, not coming down with the flu (still in denial or at least hoping it'll go away by the morning!). Because if I did that would be bad. Calling out of work when I just had a long vacation a week ago will probably not go over well with the boss.

I am not watching a NKOTB special on TV right now and getting all hot and bothered by Joey Mac like I did when I was in middle school ;)

And I certainly did not eat a rice crispy treat tonight! (Type 1 diabetic here...)

(and I did not just edit my post several times to add more "did not's"!)

Fun with PaintShop Pro

I've always considered myself a people person. Meaning, I'd prefer to be around crowds of people rather than just hanging by myself doing whatever. But lately I have found that I am enjoying my solo outings, which I've been trying to do one at least every other week (which is hard to do sometimes with my like 20 jobs lol)

I've been to a few Farmer's Markets on my little "adventures". They're always nice to go to. Great scenery, full of photo op's, and delicious, healthy, food. Today I had the day off and realized that I was out of my new food craving, banana granola (YUMM-O!), so I headed to the nearby Farmer's Market to pick some up. It was nice out this morning and I knew that the next couple of days would be stormy and rainy, which means no landscape/nature photos for at least a few days, so I thought I should seize this opportunity and I decided to bring my camera along. I happened to run into a mother, with her young son, there who also happens to be a photographer, by hobby. I will have to check her photos out.

I am trying to learn how to use Corel Paint Shop Pro better and have been experimenting with it. I didn't want to go overboard because I generally don't like photography to look more like art or "too Photoshopped" so I just made some subtle changes. Here are the results of some of my "experimenting" using some of today's shot.

A Day Late and a Dollar Short

Autumn officially started yesterday. How excited am I?! I love the cool crisp air, the smell of fireplaces filling the chilly air, the crunchy leaves under my feet, the festive activities, and most of all... the beautiful colors!

I used a few hours on Saturday for some me time (before hanging with the girls) and went to two really cool farmers markets new my house. The always have the yummiest treats. I got banana granola and a carmel apple (*tisk*tisk I know...) but I couldn't resist!)

Anyway, here are some photos from my relaxing, festive fall afternoon:

I absolutely love the colors of Autumn!

Also love that some summer remnants, such as these flowers, still remain

I find this amusing since I would often refer to the children I taught and/or took care of as "pumpkin"

And of course, with the cooler weather, fall is always filled with fundraising walks and remembrances of those who have passed from these debilitating diseases

I want to see all of your "Things I Love About Fall" pictures! Please feel free to post them in the comments section.

Happy Fall!
